I recently came across a compelling collection in Natural Products and Bioprospecting:

What struck me is how this aligns with a broader pattern in biology:

👉 Systems tend not to fail because they lack components;
they fail when they lose functional coherence under ongoing demand.

Across fields—from enzymology to neurobiology—independent research is converging on three related insights:

✔ Function emerges from interconnected cycles,
✔ Stability depends on maintenance and balance,
✔ Vulnerability appears when demand outstrips capacity.

In practical terms, this means:

> Fragility often precedes pathology.

This perspective doesn’t replace molecular biology — it complements it.
Rather than asking what fails, we also begin to ask why systems fail in the patterns they do.

By reading molecular data through a systems lens, we can better understand resilience and early instability before disease manifests.
