Methodological note
How to read this archive
This archive holds work at different stages of development: from early explorations — OSF preprints and working notes — to methodologically more mature formulations of the EICI / K-Model framework.
Earlier versions stay visible on purpose. We do not withdraw them because an idea has moved on: we preserve their traceability. Documenting how hypotheses, methods and interpretations change is part of scientific honesty.
Which means you will find
-
01
Pieces at different levels of evidence
Exploratory hypotheses, preprints, work under review and formulations still in progress. The catalogue prefix says which is which before you open anything.
-
02
The same framework applied to different domains
Biology, organisations, ecological systems and economics. This is a deliberate strategy to explore and test its generality, not a claim that the framework has been validated in all of them.
-
03
Active methodological self-criticism
When the data do not support computing a variable reliably, the system reports “N/A — insufficient data” instead of filling the gap with unjustified estimates.
-
04
Version traceability
Earlier versions are kept as a record of the intellectual development, and where a current formulation exists it is identified explicitly.
The lexicon
Seven signs with a fixed meaning. They appear in the diagrams, in the index and in the entries, and they always mean the same thing.
- state A system's condition at a given moment.
- flow Energy, information or resources moving from one place to another.
- change The difference between two states: what moves, and how much.
- friction Functional loss while turning resources into outcomes.
- adaptation The system changes how it operates and keeps its function.
- coherence Energy and information in phase: the system does what it says it does.
- resilience The capacity to work again after a disturbance.
An invitation to criticism
If you spot an inconsistency, an unjustified assumption, an inference that goes beyond the data, or a variable whose operationalisation could be improved, write to us. Reproducible, specific criticism does more for the framework than any general agreement.
