The Hand That Rocks the Cradle

Taking the thriller of the same name and Harari's warning at Davos 2026 as its starting point, this piece argues that no technology is autonomous: behind AI there is always a deciding hand.

**LA MANO QUE MECE LA CUNA**
En el thriller homónimo, el terror nunca es autónomo.
Siempre hay una mano detrás. Invisible. Intencional.
En Davos 2026, Harari lanzó una alerta incómoda: la IA ya no es herramienta. Es actor. Y su campo de batalla es el lenguaje —el tejido mismo de leyes, dinero, educación y poder.
Su diagnóstico es certero:
→ Autonomía operativa, no instrumental
→ Dominio simbólico, no físico
→ Riesgo estructural, no técnico
**Pero hay una omisión crítica.**
Confundimos *capacidad* con *intención*.
Modelos multimodales, arquitecturas profundas, agentes autónomos… todo sigue anclado a:
• Algoritmos diseñados
• Datos seleccionados
• Funciones de optimización impuestas
La "autonomía" es una ilusión de complejidad.
Mientras no exista:
→ Memoria identitaria permanente
→ Regeneración cognitiva genuina
…no hay IAG. Hay *optimización escalada*: más parámetros, más energía, más tokens… pero no más comprensión.
El cuchillo no mata solo. Tampoco la IA.
Solo que su empuñadura ya no es visible: está en los incentivos ocultos, los sesgos estructurales, los valores no declarados de quienes diseñan, entrenan y despliegan.
**La IA no es un nuevo sujeto moral.**
Es un amplificador. Refleja, escala y acelera los valores —explícitos o tóxicos— de sus creadores.
Y como en todo thriller que respeta sus reglas:
El monstruo nunca actúa solo.
